Mount Vernon police continue their campaign to take guns off the city’s streets.

In a post on Facebook, officials say officers seized three illegal guns on Sunday and arrested the people who had them.

In the first incident, officers pulled over a vehicle and saw the driver take a gun out of his waist band, and try to put it under the passenger side seat. Upon inspections, officer not only found the first loaded gun, but a second loaded weapon.

In the next case, officers approached a suspicious vehicle and found a man sleeping in the driver's seat with a firearm in his lap. The driver was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.
