The Mount Vernon Police Department is now sponsoring the city's first free little library called “Books and Badges.”

It's located right across from City Hall. You can either take a book - or leave a book - to help people get easier access to reading materials.

The project was started by Mount Vernon Police Detective Dave Clarke.

He says it's all in an effort to build trust within the community.
