Police in Mount Vernon have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting.
Police say 32-year-old Shawn Fountain, of Mount Vernon, was out on parole after five previous felony arrests. Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong wouldn't elaborate on how Fountain was tracked down, but he credited good detective work.
Police say Leon T. Smith, of Yonkers, was shot Oct. 23 and died three days later. They say Smith and Fountain were friends and were arguing about a car repair bill. Police say Smith was shot in the neck during the disagreement.
According to police, a revolver they recovered is expected to be put to a grand jury, which could determine whether the shooting was a murder, manslaughter or an accident.
