The City of Mount Vernon and several local nonprofits announced they are joining forces to send aid to those affected by Hurricane Melissa.
It's been two weeks since Category 5 Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica.
According to the Associate Press, following the storm, government officials in Jamaica reported the roofs of 120,000 structures were ripped off, affecting around 90,000 families.
In Mount Vernon, the city has announced it will partner with several local community organizations to assist those affected by the storm.
The nonprofit will also hold an in-person fundraiser on Nov, 21 for those interested.
Local good donations are being coordinated through the following:

-Enlightened Christian Gathering Church, 137 South 5th Ave.
-Jungle Restaurant, 9 West Grand St.
-Toss't and Press't Restaurant, 9 West Prospect Ave,
-Mount Vernon Fire Department Fire Station #3, 50 West Third St.
-Golden Crust, 67 South 4th Ave.
-Discovery Recovery Church, 706 E. 215th St., Bronx
City parking lot 1 by Grace Baptist Church/ Denzel Washington School of the Arts, will have a shipping container arriving this week for hard good items.
