A violent storm Tuesday night cooled off temperatures in the borough, but not without leaving its mark at virtually every turn.
Trees tumbled to the ground, landed on sidewalks and ended up blocking many streets. One tree came crashing down on a house on Astor and Fish avenues. Residents say that despite the damage, they?re just glad Mother Nature?s fury is over.
?I thought it was a tornado at first. It was scary,? says Allen Negron of Pelham Gardens.
Con Edison says nearly 18,000 customers lost power around the city and in Westchester at the height of the storm.
