A mother and son who died as a result of a massive fire in Yonkers were laid to rest Tuesday.
The services for Mittie and Arduster Rice was held at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Yonkers.
The 85-year-old mother and her 68-year-old son both died in the Mulberry Street fire on Jan. 19.
Fire officials believe the flames likely started in their fourth-floor apartment, where they were trapped.
Mittie Rice, who was in a wheelchair, died the night of the fire, and her son, who went by Jack, died days later in the hospital.

Mittie Rice was known as the "grandmother of the neighborhood." She was a devoted Christian, who attended the Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
The mother and son were laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery.
Fire officials say the building is so badly damaged that it may need to be demolished.
