An overgrown Orange County pet cemetery has finally been restored.
Forever Angels Pet Cemetery was once at risk of closing due to being abandoned. However, it was sold at an auction in 2018 to Rita Levine.
Levine says she was heartbroken to learn the 15-acre pet cemetery switched owners and fell into disrepair. But, now she’s grateful that she’s able to keep it open.
“I quickly became involved because I wanted to protect not only my pets but the 10,000 other souls that are here,” says Levine. “We also have 12 humans here who have been cremated and buried with their pets.”
According to Levine, retired journalist Barbara Walters has a pet buried in the cemetery.
News 12 is told National Pet Memorial Day is this weekend.
