Monsey firefighters harassed while extinguishing dumpster fire

Ramapo police reported that volunteers initially put out the flames outside a yeshiva on Main Street in Monsey shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Firefighters in Monsey were harassed while extinguishing a dumpster fire during the Jewish holiday of Lag BaOmer.
Ramapo police reported that volunteers initially put out the flames outside a yeshiva on Main Street in Monsey shortly after midnight on Saturday. However, the fire was reignited sometime after 1 a.m.
When firefighters returned to the scene, they encountered students yelling and attempting to block them from putting out the fire. Despite the interference, the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. No one was hurt.
