The mother of a 28-year-old Red Hook man fatally shot by an NYPD officer took her call for justice to national television.
Akai Gurley was unarmed when he was shot by police in a stairwell at NYCHA's Pink Houses in East New York back on Nov. 20.
The NYPD is calling the shooting an accident, but Gurley's mom, Sylvia Palmer, told CNN Monday that the officer involved should still be held accountable for taking her son's life.
Palmer added that she does not have any faith in the judicial system, but is praying that God will bring justice.
Kings County District Attorney Ken Thompson is preparing to present the case to a grand jury.
