A mobile health van is making sure Rockland County's underserved communities are getting the help they need in the fight against COVID-19.
Residents at the Airmont Apartments in Suffern got their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccination on Sunday, thanks to a mobile distribution site.
"Who's eligible are seniors who are 65 or older, anyone with pre-existing conditions, like diabetes, asthma, obesity," says Ashley Liso, of Ramapo Housing Authority. "As long as they have documentation, they're eligible."
David Read, a resident of the apartments, says he is thankful for the mobile service.
"I think it's a wonderful thing that these accommodations are available for us, for people that are in need," he says.
The mobile health van provided residents with the Moderna vaccine. It will be back on April 11 to administer second doses.
