Reaction to Tuesday's sentencing of Jojo John was mixed among family and others closely involved in the emotional case.
The 36-year-old received a two-year sentence for crashing his boat into a Tappan Zee Bridge construction barge. The accident resulted in the death of a bride-to-be and her groom's best man.
While John was admittedly drunk and high when he caused the accident, a civil lawsuit claims others are to blame for not providing enough lighting.
A family friend of John's spoke in his defense outside of court Tuesday, saying he felt very bad for the family and community.
Others had no sympathy for John at all.
"You have to take responsibility for your actions," says John's family friend B.T. Thomas. "He's doing that now."
