People gathered in White Plains Sunday to remember Renee Good – a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother who was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on Wednesday.
They read names of people killed during federal immigration enforcement actions and called for accountability. Speakers, including local officials and residents, criticized the use of force and urged reforms to federal immigration tactics.
Good’s death has ignited nationwide demonstrations, with tens of thousands protesting in Minneapolis and rallies planned across the country. Demonstrators are demanding transparency and the removal of ICE from communities, while some clashes have resulted in arrests.
Federal authorities released video showing the moments before the shooting and maintain the agent acted in self-defense, a claim disputed by Minnesota leaders and Good’s supporters.
As the investigation continues, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says hundreds more federal agents are being deployed to Minneapolis amid the ongoing unrest.
