Minisink Valley is now the latest Hudson Valley school district to retire their mascot.
District officials say they’re instead using a MV logo following a statewide Education Department directive that orders all public schools do away with Native American mascots or else face strict penalties.
Minisink Valley will still use the name "Warriors."
News 12 previously reported on how the order impacts other districts like Mahopac and Wappingers - both known as the Indians.
Wappingers says it has retired its mascot, but Mahopac district officials say they haven’t and had no further comment.
