A group of Minisink Valley students are placing flags beside thousands of veterans' graves in Orange County ahead of Memorial Day.
The students are from the high school's Junior ROTC program.
County Veterans Affairs Director Christian Farrell says the effort ensures those buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen are not forgotten.
"Memorial Day here at the Orange County Memorial Cemetery is special because we don't want anyone to be forgotten. We put a flag down at their grave marker to remember those and their sacrifice to our country, and we should remember them," says Farrell.
Nearly 4,000 veterans and their spouses are buried at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Their service dates as far back as World War I.
