Middletown schools boost security amid social media threat
The superintendent confirmed a social media post sparked the response, stressing there's no evidence of credibility.

Several Monhagen Middle School students received frightening death threats and threats of school violence last night from a social media profile that the district describes as a “fake, well-known username.”
Several community members reached out to News 12 Monday night and provided two different screenshot messages from the username “Diddy.” Both messages ask the recipient if they are a Monhegan Middle School student and claim that they are going to shoot them and others at school.
The sender in one message wrote, “I’m gonna shoot up that school tmr 2 period at 8:20 ur gonna die. IK how you look ha ha ha ur gonna die. I’m gonna shoot everyone.”
Another message sent says, “Ur gonna die tomorrow. Me and 8 other people are gonna shoot u. I hope I get u. Were gonna shoot everyone in there.”
The messages News 12 obtained were screenshot at 7:37 p.m. and 9:51 p.m. One parent who alerted us said that they notified police.
The school district shared a letter to the community Monday night at 11:15 p.m confirming that a threat was directed to Monhegan Middle School Students from an unidentified user and says they were sent “to get attention” and shared rapidly by students.
All district schools will open on a regular schedule Tuesday with additional police presence, according to the district. The letter says once identified, whoever sent the messages will be held accountable for their actions.
Law enforcement from the Town of Wallkill, City of Middletown and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center are investigating the threats.
