A medical marijuana dispensary is set to open in Yonkers and will be the second one in Westchester.
The company Etain is the only women-owned, family-run dispensary in New York. Hillary Peckham, one of the owners, says she typically gets 50-100 calls from potential patients who want to know more about the program and how they can be registered or if they qualify.
Medical marijuana became legal in New York at the beginning of 2016. The Peckham family, which owns Etain, says they have been busy opening up dispensaries across New York.
In order to use the dispensary, patients must be diagnosed with one of 10 chronic illnesses that meet the state guidelines. They must also be registered on a state database.
