A monument to Medal of Honor recipients from New York was unveiled Saturday in the Town of Mount Pleasant.
The award recognizes the heroism in action of those who risked their lives and went beyond the call of duty.
Among those who watched the unveiling was Lillian Tanzi, who says her husband was wounded twice while serving.
“I didn't know if I was going to be a widow, but thank God he came home. That's why it's very emotional," she says.
The latest monument joins others in Monument Park behind Mount Pleasant Town Hall, including tributes to Gold Star mothers and American POWs.
The Medal of Honor monument has room for the names of future recipients to be added.
