A mechanic has offered to restore a vandalized food truck in Pearl River after seeing a report about the incident on News 12.
Tom Letizia is the owner of Letizia Bros Auto Shop in Bardonia and a volunteer for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
When he saw a News 12's story about a vandalized food truck meant for charity events, he wanted to help.
"I just saw the ignition switch ripped out and I said, 'I can fix that,'" he told News 12
The truck was sitting in a parking lot in Pearl River when someone smashed the windows and stole all of its supplies.
"We heard the propane tank was taken. We have American Compress Gas up the street, a body shop right next door, we figured everyone can chip in and get this guy back on the road," says Letizia.
Rick Salazar, the owner of the truck, met Letizia at his shop Friday where they made a game plan for the truck's restoration.
"It feels great. It's nice to see good people that try to help each other out," says Salazar.
Salazar says he's offered to bring his food truck to charity events that Letizia is a part of.
There have been no arrests in the case.
