Measles confirmed in guest at Spring Valley wedding
Rockland health officials say dozens of guests at a wedding last week in Spring Valley may have been exposed to the measles.
One guest at the April 1 wedding, who recently entered the country, was confirmed to have a case of the disease. The health department says people exposed to the disease could show symptoms through April 23. It is trying to contact all the guests who attended the Orthodox Jewish wedding at the Atrium Plaza.
Rockland County Health Commissioner Dr. Joan Facelle says those who have had two doses of the measles vaccine are considered immune. Those who have not been immunized or may be susceptible because of pregnancy or immune suppression may need to get preventive treatment.
Symptoms of the measles include a respiratory infection, cough, runny nose, high fever, rash and watery eyes.
Those who may have been exposed are urged to call their physicians.
