The Mount Vernon mayor's office says there are no confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in the city, despite reports that a local man was showing symptoms of the disease.
The rumors that a man had fallen ill with the virus after a recent trip to Jamaica was enough to get many residents nervous.
Residents said that many people were discussing the rumor on Facebook. One person said the reaction on Facebook ranged from scared to skeptical.
News 12 talked to the county Health Department, which would not confirm or deny that there was a man showing symptoms of the virus.
