A special Catholic Mass was held in New Rochelle Sunday to offer parishioners an opportunity for prayer and reflection after the Paris terror attacks.
While New Rochelle is miles away from the terrorist attacks that ripped through Paris on Friday, hundreds of the faithful gathered to pray for peace and to offer their support to the terror victims and their families.
The evening Mass was held at the Church of the Holy Family.
Although the church has a regularly scheduled Catholic service, there were special prayers for the people of Paris.
Many of those praying for strength and peace are Iona College students. Some know a number of French exchange students who attend classes on the New Rochelle campus.
In a show of their continuing support for the people of Paris, Iona College students will hold a prayer vigil at 6 p.m. Monday night on campus.
