A marathon fundraiser was held to help raise money for children with disabilities.
The Achilles Kids program is a nonprofit that encourages children with disabilities to participate in mainstream sports to build physique and self-esteem.
Tom McGrath, of Achilles International, says he is running six miles in six days in each borough, plus an extra in Manhattan, to raise money to buy shoes for the participants.
Last year, more than 4,500 pairs of sneakers were given to youngsters with disabilities.
McGrath hopes to surpass that mark this year.
"The shoes were better than a gold medal to these kids," he says.
