Wade Gagliano was sentenced to 840 hours of community service and five years of probation – no jail time—in a hit-and-run DWI crash that left a 67-year-old Ronkonkoma woman dead.
Adrienne Wagner was killed on Johnson Avenue in Ronkonkoma around 1:30 a.m. in August 2022. Gagliano admitted to consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana prior to the crash.
In court, the prosecutor read aloud words from the victim’s daughter, Sarah Wagner, who said there have been ‘endless tears’ for a mom who was ‘so deeply loved.’
Wagner said her mom and dad gave her the ‘gift of empathy’ and while she wants justice for her mom, she doesn’t want to see another life ruined.
Gagliano’s attorney, Anthony La Pinta, said he thought her words were “pretty profound.”
Gagliano spoke briefly at his sentencing, telling the Wagner family, “You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.”
La Pinta said surveillance video in the case showed the victim running into the dark road in front of the car.
Prosecutors had wanted a sentence of two to six years behind bars.
