Police say a man died in an apparent drowning Thursday in the Ramapo River in Suffern.
Suffern police says the man's family told them the 33-year-old had apparently gone swimming earlier in the day, but did not come home.
The family went to look for him near the Suffern Little League fields and found his belongings, but he was nowhere to be found.
A village employee saw the family searching and contacted police.
Suffern police found the man's body in several feet of water and recovered his body with the assistance of several fire departments.
