A 78-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his wife in an apparent "mercy killing" was arraigned Thursday at New Rochelle City Court.
Paul Weinstein faces second-degree murder charges in the shooting death of his ailing wife, Helena.
Authorities say they received a call at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday from a man identified as Weinstein, who said he had just shot his wife at the Maple Center Senior Apartments. Neighbors say Weinstein was distraught by the prospect of sending his ailing wife to a nursing home.
