The Music Express ride experienced a malfunction, continuously moving backward for as long as 10 minutes until it was finally shut off by someone on-site.
The alarming incident was captured on camera and subsequently posted on TikTok, generating attention, and raising questions about ride safety.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the malfunction.
In response to the incident, Rye Playland's General Manager Jeff Davis issued a statement, saying safety and well-being of their guests is Playland’s utmost concern.
"Safety is our number one priority and as such, the Music Express ride is currently closed as we work closely with the manufacturer," he says.
The park is working closely with the manufacturer to address and rectify the issue, the general manager says.
