Major retailers lure Hudson Valley shoppers with Black Friday deals

Shoppers are expected to look for deals on items including electronics, apparel, grocery, furniture, bedding and cosmetics this year.

The U.S. holiday shopping season is kicking off with an estimated 183 million shoppers hitting stores this season in search of deals between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation with global sales expected to rake in more than $75 billion.
The Cross-County Center in Yonkers saw shoppers as early as 6 a.m. The iconic outdoor mall is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and has more than 80 stores and restaurants. Parking is free and holiday themed pop-ups like food trucks, photos with Santa, ice-skating and a holiday market will be offered for the first three weekends in December.
Major retailers are offering deals to lure shoppers in. Macy’s has in-store only deals under $30 on apparel and small appliances with 60% off select toys. Victoria’s Secret, Forever21 and Ulta Beauty are offering 40% off and everything is 50% off at Gap and Old Navy.

Jewelry retailers like Pandora, Kay and Zales have up to 30-40% off in stores.
Despite the continually growing popularity of online shopping, the National Retail Federation says two-thirds of holiday shopping will be in stores this Black Friday.
