Machete attack in downtown Port Chester ends with multiple arrests

Multiple people were injured in a fight involving machetes, knives and razor blades inside the Metro-North Port Chester Station parking garage Tuesday night, according to the MTA Police Department.
MTAPD said two groups, totaling approximately nine to 10 men, including at least one juvenile, were involved in the altercation around 10:30 p.m. Authorities are still working to determine exactly how many people participated.
Four people were taken into custody following the incident and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon: a 17-year-old from Port Chester; Hector Durasno-Escandon, 18, of Port Chester; Jorge Osoy Lopez, 18, of Port Chester; and Wilmer Ledesma, 22, of Queens.
Investigators said the same groups were involved in an earlier confrontation around 5 p.m. on Westchester Avenue in downtown Port Chester.

During that incident, one person's shirt was torn. Police said the shirt was later burned inside the parking garage, and video of it being set on fire was posted to social media.
Investigators believe that incident escalated tensions between the groups before the later fight.
Responding officers found two individuals suffering from significant head and facial lacerations. Both were taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and later taken into custody.
Another group fled the scene and was stopped several blocks away near a local restaurant.
Investigators recovered additional cutting instruments and documented a blood trail between the parking garage and the location where the suspects were stopped.
Police said multiple cutting instruments were used during the altercation, as six blades and a lighter believed to be connected to the earlier shirt-burning incident were recovered.
No one has been charged with assault at this time.
Two juveniles who were taken in for questioning were later released without charges.
Police said they have not determined whether gang involvement played a role.
The investigation remains ongoing.
