Rep. Nita Lowey defended funding for Planned Parenthood in opposition to her Republican counterparts on Sunday.
Lowey was flanked by local lawmakers at a rally at Planned Parenthood in White Plains.
The rally came as conservative members of Congress have been threatening to add a provision to defund the nonprofit agency in next year's budget.
"We will not let radicals force a false choice to shut down government or take away the vital services this facility provides," Lowey said.
The debate over funding was reignited after secretly recorded video emerged showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing harvesting tissue from aborted fetuses for medical research.
Conservatives allege the video proves the organization has been selling and profiting off of the practice.
