A plea deal has been reached in the case of an Orange County man who allegedly tried to mow down a man he saw out with his wife.
Detectives say Anthony Tranchina spotted his wife at Benedict Farm Park in Montgomery with Beacon firefighter Eric Schmidt. After seeing the pair together, Tranchina allegedly drove his Jeep into the picnic table at which the two were sitting.
Police report that Tranchina then got out of his car and punched Schmidt hard enough to break bones in his face to the point that he needed reconstructive surgery.
The terms of the plea deal are not being revealed by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
