Officials in Nassau and Suffolk said there were dozens of crashes across Long Island due to the slick road conditions brought on by Friday's snowstorm.
Suffolk County reported more than 50 snow-related crashes.
County Executive Steve Bellone said the county had over 160 plows on the road but still issued a warning to drivers.
"We, again, urge people to be extremely careful out there. We've got a long period of time, obviously, since the last storm where people have had to drive in these conditions when they are out. Even if the roads are clear, they can still be slippery, they can still be icy. We have cold conditions out there today, so we encourage you even when once the streets are clear, just be very, very careful out there," Bellone said.
Meanwhile, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman also said there was an uptick in crashes during the storm. Blakeman said the county had 81 pieces of equipment out plowing and salting the roadways. He said crews worked all night.
"We will continue salting throughout the day and night into Saturday because the temperatures are going to drop," Blakeman added.
Blakeman said that residents who have a non-emergency can call 516-537-0321. Nassau residents who have snow complaints can call 516-571-6900.
