Early winter storms brings much-needed moisture to the Hudson Valley

As the storm pulls away, cleanup will be needed tonight and into the weekend. But it's over the weekend that the gusty winds will linger.

We went from a drought scenario to getting a ton of moisture, all within a matter of days. The storm system that impacted the area with rain, a wintry mix, and snow Thursday, is still a cause for concern through tonight. The precipitation will be winding down though, as we go through the nighttime hours.
But don't take your eyes off the forecast, and the roads. Showers will linger into the evening hours and any untreated roadways will be slick or even icy. If you have any deicing agents, it's a good idea to use them tonight before you go to bed.
Any additional accumulations will be light and in elevated areas above 500-1,000 feet across much of the region. As the system pulls away tonight, drier air is trying to seep its way into the center of it, trying to cut off the precipitation chances. Some scattered to isolated showers will be coming down towards daybreak. If any trees are weighed down by the recent snow, branches could break and fall on power lines and there will be a chance for more isolated power outages.
It will also be feeling cold this weekend. Bundle up as temperatures will feel as if they are in the upper-30s for Saturday and low-40s for Sunday.
OVERNIGHT: Mixed showers back down through the night. A chance for light showers is possible before daybreak. Breezy winds will linger. Expect icy/slick roads. Lows: Low- to mid-30s.
SATURDAY: There is a chance for scattered showers early in the day, before 8 a.m. Then a mix of sun and clouds with windy conditions at times. Highs: Upper-40s. Lows: Upper-30s.
SUNDAY: Mix of sun and clouds and windy. Highs: Upper-40s to low-50s. Lows: Mid-30s.
MONDAY: Mix of sun and clouds with a lighter breeze at times. Highs: Low-50s. Lows: Upper-30s to low-40s.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance for rain. Highs: Mid-50s. Lows: Mid-30s.
