There were no reported issues with school buses today, despite hundreds of school bus drivers in Connecticut threatening to abandon their posts in protest of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Connecticut state employees and school staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing beginning today. As of today, bus drivers must have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or undergo weekly testing.

Despite the possible walk offs, parents in Stamford and Fairfield say school buses were on time and there were no issues this morning.

The Brookfield superintendent put out a message to parents this morning saying a few drivers didn't report to work and some buses might arrive late, but all routes were still covered.

Many school districts statewide have already been dealing with bus driver shortages.

The president of the Connecticut Operators of School Transportation Association says he was not aware of a planned walk-out today.
He says in the last week a "significant portion" of the 1,500 unvaccinated workers who are part of the association have gotten vaccinated or have agreed to weekly testing so long as the testing is free and convenient.
