Residents say they want the plastic bottles, bags and newspapers scattered across Route 59 in Rockland County cleaned up.

They say the litter has been piling up for weeks along the road across from a busy shopping center on the border of Suffern and Airmont.

The garbage sits along a piece of undeveloped land, but there is no word on who owns it.
News 12 spoke to the village of Airmont, which said it said it will be sending a code enforcement officer to check it out.
The village told News 12 that it doesn’t know who owns that piece of property, but whoever does will be in charge of cleaning it up or face tickets.
