A fast-moving fire ripped through an historic pool and tennis club in Yonkers on Thursday.
Officials say a lightning strike may have sparked flames at the Amackassin Club on Palisade Avenue during a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out before it destroyed the building. Members say there is a good bit of water damage inside and there is a hole in the roof but they're already planning the repairs and say the building will be even better than before.
About four firefighters suffered some minor injuries and will be OK.
The Amackassin Club was established in 1888 and is the second-oldest tennis club in the country.
