Cooler heads prevailed Friday when all the lifeguards reported for duty at a Yonkers pool after calling in sick following a big brawl.
According to authorities, lifeguards ordered everyone out of the Sprain Ridge pool Wednesday night after a report of a missing child. Before the safety check was finished, about a dozen people jumped back in the pool. A huge melee ensued and police were called. A Mount Vernon man was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The next day, all 14 lifeguards called out sick, sending a message to the county-owned pool that they were concerned for their safety. Lifeguards were pulled from other pools and the facility opened later in the day.
