The Town of Lewisboro is considering a proposal from Connecticut-based St. Luke’s School that would redevelop and share facilities at Vista Community Park through a public-private partnership. The proposal includes a 20-year lease agreement between the town and the private school.

Under the proposal, the school would fund the reconstruction of park facilities and assume responsibility for ongoing maintenance. Planned upgrades include a new turf field, tennis courts, improved parking, bathrooms and other park improvements. School officials say the goal is to maintain or enhance existing facilities while creating new recreational opportunities.

As part of the agreement, St. Luke’s School would receive scheduled access to the fields and courts during its athletic seasons. Officials say the facilities would remain open for town residents and the public outside of the school’s designated usage times.

The proposal has generated debate among residents. Some community members have raised concerns about issues such as noise and privacy, while others argue the park should remain fully under local control and be funded by the community.

Ahead of a public meeting Thursday night, Lewisboro officials emphasized on social media that the town is not selling Vista Park. Town leaders say the project would represent a multimillion-dollar capital investment if ultimately approved.

A community meeting drew a large crowd and provided residents an opportunity to ask questions about the proposal. School representatives said they would address concerns raised during the discussion. Any final decision on the proposal would be made by the Lewisboro Town Board.
