Flooding impacted a major road in Dutchess County on Wednesday, causing significant damage.

The flooding happened on Route 9 near the corner of Clove Road in Fishkill. Residents say they saw crews out there early Wednesday morning. Video shows water rushing over the road following heavy rain.

"It's the worst weather I've seen as far as rain since I've been here," says Fishkill resident Martin Perez.

Drivers are being told to find different routes as crews work to get things repaired and fixed.

That's not the only spot that was hit with a lot of water. Some businesses south of there on Route 9 were left flooded.

Neighbors also saw water collecting on other roads, including Carol Lane.

"We woke up this morning and looked outside. It's a river out there," says Jenny, who lives in the area.

Officials with the New York State Department of Transportation tell News 12 that crews are working to assess the situation and will reopen the lanes as quickly as safely possible. Adding, they will keep the public informed of further developments.
