Legoland
New York is partnering with the HONOR shelter, food and counseling
center to provide fun for disadvantaged families.
The
Middletown nonprofit provides temporary homes to more than 100 people.
Thousands
of Legos, a movie screen and more has been added to a room known as Merlin’s
Magic Space.
HONOR
shelter executive director Chris Molinelli says the idea of Merlin’s Magic
Space is for kids not to think they’re staying at a shelter.
“When
a little one is staying with us, we don’t want them to think they’re staying at
a shelter. We want them to think that they may be staying at a hotel or
resort,” says Molinelli.
Labranche’s
16-month-old son Maxene enjoyed the room so much, he tells News 12, “As soon as
we get another chance…we’ll be right back in there.”
Merlin’s
Magic Space in Orange County is the 10th location of its kind to open in
the country and the 50th in the world.
