Some state lawmakers are calling on the MTA to rebuild the busiest train station in the Hudson Valley.
A delegation including State Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach is asking the MTA to include the revitalization of the White Plains train station as part of its upcoming five-year capital plan.
The White Plains station was built in 1987 when it saw about 7,000 commuters daily. Since then, the city has seen tremendous growth and now, figures show more than 21,000 commuters come in and out each day. With the new Tappan Zee Bridge on the way, lawmakers say upgrades are needed more than ever.
The MTA has not commented on whether the White Plains proposal will be part of its five-year capital plan.
