Some local lawmakers are balking at the $3 million Westchester County is expected to pay for a sophisticated crime-fighting system.

The system, which is supposed to pinpoint gunshots within seconds after they are fired and relay the information to police, is expected to be installed in Yonkers and Mount Vernon. But some are arguing the investment might be too costly.

"I just want to make sure money isn't wasted, that money we invest will buy the best system for the best price," says Legislator Michael Kaplowitz.

But Legislator Jose Alvarado says the situation in his district is urgent.

"It becomes a rush because of what ? is happening in our neck of the woods," he says.
