Assemblyman Ken Zebrowksi is urging the state to hold public hearings to allow commuters to sound off about the bus service that connects riders in Rockland County to Metro-North trains in Tarrytown and White Plains.
Zebrowksi says his inbox has been flooded with complaints about how Hudson Link buses depart Metro-North stations before trains from Grand Central arrive – stranding dozens of passengers.
Zebrowski told News 12 that public hearings can cause change, pointing to hearings held last year before the Hudson Link line launched.
“Originally, they wanted to send all the buses to White Plains. And I think they heard from commuters at public hearings that they wanted Tarrytown and did change that,” says Zebrowski.
Commuters also told News 12 that they have complaints about the county's other bus system, Transportation of Rockland – otherwise known as TOR. County Legislator Harriet Cornell, who chairs the county's transit committee, says lawmakers are trying to help TOR buses run on-time after drivers went on strike. The county pays to operate the service.
News 12 reached out for a comment from TransDev, the company that operates both TOR and Hudson Link buses. They have not responded.
