Latimer: Westchester to gradually open county pools with restrictions in place

Four of Westchester's pools will reopen before Fourth of July weekend with restrictions, County Executive George Latimer announced during his daily COVID-19 briefing.

Four of Westchester's pools will reopen before Fourth of July weekend with restrictions, County Executive George Latimer announced during his daily COVID-19 briefing.
The Saxon Woods pool in White Plains and the Sprain Ridge Pool in Yonkers will open Friday, June 26. Wilson's Woods pool in Mount Vernon and Tibbetts Brook Pool in Yonkers will open a week later on July 3.

Latimer laid out some of the restrictions that will be in place, including social distancing protocols and guests must wear masks.
The pools will be open for two sessions daily – from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. This will allow the pool and surrounding area to be cleaned.
Concession stands and locker rooms will be closed. The pool at Rye Playland will remain closed.
BRIEFING NOTES:
  • Latimer: 1,094 active COVID-19 cases in Westchester County. The numbers continue to decrease.
  • There were 4 more fatalities overnight.
  • Latimer says New York state has allowed the opening of public pools. Westchester has five public pools.
  • Two of Westchester's five public pools will be open on June 26 (Saxon Woods, Sprain Ridge Park) with restrictions. He says splash pools will be closed.
  • The pools at Wilson Woods and Tibbets Brook Park will open on July 3.
  • Latimer says the pools will open at 50% maximum occupancy and will operate in 2 separate sessions to allow disinfecting inbetween.
  • The pool at Rye Playland will not be reopening yet.
