Latimer: The curve is flattening, but we are not out of the woods

County Executive George Latimer said during his daily briefing on Tuesday that the “curve is flattening” in Westchester, but “we are certainly not out of the woods.”
The county executive announced that there are 10,224 active COVID-19 cases in Westchester and the death toll creeped up to 596.
According to Latimer, “37% of all the deaths are from people who have lived in nursing homes or assisted living facilities."
He says he will outline the first phase of a plan to come up with a county budget amid the fiscal issues that the virus has imposed. Latimer says it will address the “huge budget gap” COVID-19 has created.
Updates from County Executive Latimer:
  • There are 20,191 positive COVID-19 cases in Westchester.
  • The number of active COVID-19 cases is 10,224. 
  • There are 1,194 hospitalizations, the same number as yesterday.
  • County Executive Latimer: Two-thirds of all tested Westchester County residents test negative for COVID-19.
  • "The curve is flattening, but we are not out of the woods."
  • There are 596 deaths in Westchester.
  • Latimer: "In Westchester County, 37% of all the deaths are from people who have lived in nursing homes or assisted living facilities."

  • Latimer says he will outline on Wednesday “first phase actions” to solve fiscal issues created by COVID-19. He says we are “looking at a huge budget gap.” He says there will be some cuts to spending and restructuring.
