Investigators are examining the social media usage of Lacey Spears, the Rockland mother who is accused of killing her 5-year-old son Garnett.
Spears had a Twitter and blog, where she wrote about her life as a single mother. All recent tweets have been deleted and entries from the past two years on her blog "Garnett's Journey" are gone.
Social media expert Beth Robinson, a professor at Rockland County College, says people often turn to the Web during tough times. One of the biggest topics on Spears' blog was her son's illness and how they moved around the country to get him care.
Prosecutors say Spears may have Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychiatric disorder that causes parents to harm their children for sympathy and attention.
