A New York Knicks player from Middletown is recovering Wednesday after being shot in Queens.
Police say Cleanthony Early, 24, was shot in the right knee and robbed of cash, jewelry and a cellphone. The incident reportedly happened after Early was leaving a strip club with his girlfriend.
Early spent his high school years playing basketball at Pine Bush. Residents who follow his career say they are concerned about his injured knee and future in the NBA.
Early is reportedly home from the hospital recovering. His teammates have been showing their support on social media.
Early was drafted in 2014 and sidelined earlier this year after having surgery on the same knee he was shot in.
