Kitchen fire damages Pleasant Valley home

Fire officials say they were called to Salt Point Turnpike around 5:30 p.m. after a resident came home and heard the smoke alarm going off and saw smoke.

A kitchen fire damaged a home in in Pleasant Valley on Wednesday.
Fire officials say they were called to Salt Point Turnpike around 5:30 p.m. after a resident came home and heard the smoke alarm going off and saw smoke.
When crews arrived they found the home was full of thick smoke, stemming from the kitchen.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and clear the scene in just over an hour.
News 12 is told there wasn't any major structural damage. The residents were able to return after cleanup and no one was hurt.
