The Spring Valley NAACP, Spring Valley Police Benevolent Association and Ramapo High School held a kickball game to honor the memory of a teenager who was shot and killed earlier this month.
Treynahel Tyvon Cineus, 17, a rising Ramapo High School senior, was shot and killed around 2:30 a.m. on July 8 by the Meadow Lane Apartments on West Eckerson Road. Last week, 23-year-old Anthony Mitchell, of Sharp Street in Haverstraw, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
“It impacted us a lot,” said Sineus’s friend Kerry Louis. "There's not enough words in the world to describe his demeanor, his personality…he was a character. A true friend, always had a smile on his face.”
The game pit students against Spring Valley police.
"People sometimes think the police officers are out to get them, but as you can see, everyone here is holding hands and we're sharing a good time,” said Albert Lopez, VP of Spring Valley PBA.
