Jury selection in the sex abuse case against an internationally known rabbi from New Square has been delayed.
Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe has requested more time to present the case against Rabbi Moshe Taubenfeld.
Taubenfeld is accused of sexually molesting a 9-year-old boy over a five-year span after the boy came to him for counseling after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Taubenfeld's accuser, who spoke to News 12 using the name 'Laiby,' says members of the Hasidic community tried to pressure him and his family not to press charges.
The father of 20 says he's innocent, but if he's found guilty he will become the first pedophile from New Square to ever serve prison time.
The charges against Taubenfeld carry a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
A hearing is now scheduled for Oct. 23.
