Yonkers' fireworks display fought through the clouds and lit the sky even as some of Westchester's Fourth of July festivities were postponed due to weather Wednesday.
Hundreds of residents gathered at the Yonkers City Pier to enjoy the fireworks. Some waited for hours beforehand, despite the poor weather, to get a good view.
Other areas were not as lucky. The Village of Mamaroneck and Scarsdale both postponed their events due to weather. Each was rescheduled for Thursday.
Westchester's Fourth of July festivities kicked off with a patriotic parade through Peekskill. The parade is an annual tradition there and people came from all over the county to show their pride. The parade's grand marshal was Peekskill's outgoing Fire Chief Jim Howard. The celebration continued with a concert and fireworks that started at 6:15 p.m.
